After getting the ball rolling in February, my goals for March were to publish a roadmap and some simple user interface sketches. Both of these things are really just internal planning that I needed to do anyway, but I thought it would be a good idea to publish them as they provide a lot of clarity on what I want to achieve. I don’t feel like it was a great month for progress but I’m trying to keep in mind that I’ve still achieved something!
You can see the roadmap at https://thesedays.life/roadmap.php.
I’ve deliverately left any timescales or delivery dates off each milestone until I’m more confident about my ability to deliver features on time, but it shows what I’ve got planned and the order in which I’ll be working on them.
The general plan is to start researching peoples’ goals and ambitions, and build a sort of online scrapbook where you can start collecting and organising yours. Once that’s working well, we’ll start getting into accountability stuff and figure out the best way to stay motivated and moving forward. I’m very keen to focus on the human journey, the emotions and the winding path that go along with it, not just the final goal or the achievements.
I’ve built this timeline as a React.js component so it can be easily reused. While it doesn’t really do much right now it will be reused when creating timelines for your own goals.
User Interface Sketches
I really didn’t get very far with these so I’ll be continuing with them in April. There are a lot of small decisions to be made about the layout, feel, functionality and general experience of the website that all need to be ironed out now before I start any development.
The main issue I faced was finding time to focus and being in a creative and decisive frame of mind.
