iPad apps on Mac OS?

So apparently Apple is working on something called “Marzipan” (to be announced this year at WWDC), that will allow iPad apps to be published for Mac OS.

This is very exciting to me. Since I don’t know Swift, I write iOS apps in JavaScript using React Native. Marzipan could mean I can use my JavaScript skills to build native desktop apps 🤤 And without having to rely on Electron!

There are already some open source projects that aim to bring React Native to the desktop (such as React Native Mac OS), but even they have suggested Apple’s efforts could make their work obsolete. I don’t want to their hard work but I hope this happens. First class support from Apple would be amazing. And that’s without even getting into the other possibilities… Future Apple Pencil support on touchscreen macs..? hmm 🤔
